Drilling
Drill Bits for Guitar Building and Repair
Why do we offer these specialize drill bit sizes?
Very simple.
When working with or building guitars, you are working in hard woods generally and normal 1/16" sized drill bits generally are not close enough to prevent damage or snapping the screw head off on smaller screws.
The drill bits we offer are slightly undersized to allow a good tight fit, but allow the screw to go into the hole with minimal chance of damage. We do recommend using a bee's wax or paraffin rub on the screws as well do help lubricate the cutting surface when it first enters the wood.
Also having a correct fitting screw driver bit can make all the difference as well.
